Mount Rufeno stands majestically in northern Lazio, bordering Umbria and Tuscany. It is located in the municipality of Acquapendente in the province of Viterbo.

Mount Rufeno, with its 734 meters, is the heart of the eponymous Regional Nature Reserve. This protected area, established in 1983, preserves a heritage of biodiversity resulting from centuries of interaction between humans and nature. The history of the territory dates back to Etruscan and Roman times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. In the Middle Ages, Monte Rufeno was a crossroads for pilgrimages along the Via Francigena.
